I did the lazy route (didn't create backing track), but at least hard panned things: Full tune panned hard L, my guitar (SG of course!) panned hard R.
Using only the UAD API Vision channel strip plugin (has hi/lo pass, compression, gate/exp, 2x famous EQ's, etc), a short UAD Lexicon 480 room reverb and UAD's Studer 800 tape. My modded-to '68 Plexi.
