Just started an acoustic side project with a singer from another band and my 20 year old Takamine AE is about worn out and bothering my arthritis quite a bit.
I have been looking at options and came across a handful of electrics that have Piezo PU's and a lot of YT reviews have been pretty positive on the Schecter, especially for the price. IMO, it even beat out the PRS SE Piezo. Since this is not a super serious project yet, and we already have a few gigs set up for January, I am looking at something reliable and under $1000 to get me by for now. I have a Stomp XL and a ToneX to add to the sound to make it closer to an acoustic electric plugged up to a PA.
I tried a Fender Standard Acoustasonic and was overwhelmingly not impressed at all. I talked to a guitar tech at an authorized Fender repair shop and he said he gets a lot of them in with problems with the electronics to which is fine while under warranty, but it's only 2 years for the imports. Plus it really felt like a cheap toy while I played it.
I would love to get a Martin or Taylor acoustic but it's not in the cards, or wallet, at this time. Any other suggestions are more than welcome.
