Mission accepted. Im putting the Gotohs on my #1 tele today- from what it looks like i haveta pull the feet out in the second saddle and reverse it for a wound g-- that sound right?
there they are. i gotta say, i was a little dubious that saddles would be super different, but willing to give it a whack. the gotoh in tunes definitely have a thing goin on. maybe its harder or better brass or a different way of drawing or casting these saddles- the the upper midrange clarity over wilkinson compensateds isnt really debatable. the wilkinsons just sound mushy and soft.
being able to set them all the same with a simple flip to get intonation on works great, and from even a couple feet away they look like my 72's steels.. just brass.
what a great surprise! my p90 tele has always been kinda darkish and this really shifted the whole tonal balance.. and i had wilkinsons on every one of three teles. crap. ive spent $50 in way less fruitful ways than consolidating tone on three guitars
but guess im gonna have to now.
