I came up playing Martin dreadnoughts, but over the years my playing style changed as I’m playing electric all the time and managing chronic pain. I’m looking for an inspiring acoustic ideally $2000 or below. Currently gravitating towards the Taylor grand concert (112ce, 212ce, 312ce). I like the shorter scale and narrower nut width.
Anything else I should consider?

if you're used to martins and are looking for a solid smallbody- maybe try some of the double and triple aughts- and for the narrow nut- maybe an OM, but set them up with lighter strings or even thomastiks.

i used to love dreadnaughts, but it got to where i realized i hated playing a fricken refrigerator box on my lap so much i wouldnt play. i shifted away from them near thirty years ago and while i dont mind wider nuts (i actually prefer em)- the d18S i have is strung lighter, and i dont really mind it. but the main issue isnt the neck- its always been the dynamic of the hugeass box being in the way.

The Taylor Grand Theater is definitely worth checking out!

Taylor’s tend to feel comfortable coming from an electric background and the 24 1/8” scale is worth trying. I was skeptical at first, but now my main acoustic for the past 5 years has been a 24” scale. They feel and sound really nice and it will be easy on your hands.

Taylor makes quality instruments but they don't sound like Martin guitars. I would encourage you to play a few before you buy just to make sure you like the Taylor sound.

Overall, light strings, short scale length, a thinner neck, and a good setup will help.

I’m super enthousiastic about the Nylon version of the silent guitar, best gig solution ever, sounds good, and the playability is off the scale.
Obviously, “on the couch” or at the campfire it doesn’t do what a real acoustic does, but if your looking for something with optimal playability, and works great gigging, I’d take a look at this one:

(Never touched the S version myself, but if it’s anything like the N, it might be a good option considering your chronic pains)

The size of the box is definitely another factor I forgot to mention. Also, my ears have changed too so I’m not beholden to the dreadnought boominess anymore.

I played one side by side with a Grand Concert and preferred the GC. But for the right price I’m still considering the GT.

Those look cool, but I’ve already got a live solution using a piezo system and IR on my electric guitar.
