2 wire humbuckers or single coils with Seymour Duncan Blackout Preamp?

Can the Seymour Duncan Blackout Modular Preamp be used with single coils or two wire pickups?

What little info I could find seems to want all four wires so as to perform the amplification and the phase flipping itself
